When I realized you are a PETA spokesperson, I felt compelled to share my concerns about the group. No, I am not a sports fan, but a little rescue pup of mine was named after you. I have attached a photo of little 'Chase Mutley,' whose family lives in northern PA....they are all big fans.
Many people, like yourself, are not aware that PETA kills more than 2,000 animals each year and has for at least the past decade. I first became aware of PETA's record when some of their staff were arrested for 'littering' after they dumped animal carcasses into a dumpster in rural NC, my home state. It developed that these 'animal welfare activists' had adopted animals from a local shelter and immediately killed them in the back of their van, then dumped them like garbage. There are numerous reports that PETA has taken animals from shelters, rescue groups and individuals that need to find homes for them, and in many cases have assured those giving up the animals that they will be adopted into good homes. Instead, they are almost always killed. PETA's kill rate is higher than all but the worst kill shelters, at around 90% for the last few years. (The data comes from the VA state Dept. of Agriculture, which requires reporting of animal rescue activities statewide, and is self-reported by the group.)
I hope that you will do some research yourself, of sources other than PETA's website, and ask Ingrid why the group kills so many animals. It is offensive to me that PETA is allowed to raise funds for their work as if they are a reputable animal rescue group, when that is actually far from the truth.
Sincerely,
